Just Bek!

Hey there! My name is Rebekka, but you can call me Bek. I live in Albany, Oregon with my senior cat Hank, and my mom who moved in with me a few years ago. I am a second-year student with Linn-Benton and I work full-time as an Administrative Specialist and Bookkeeper at a small software company based in Philomath.

Born and raised in Montana, I decided to leave behind the Rocky Mountains for the Pacific Northwest in 2015. I was seeking a change of scenery—something bigger, faster, and more diverse. What I found was just that. I submerged myself inside the melting pot of cultures, food, music and art. I met new friends, I worked different jobs, I've traveled throughout the state and along HWY101 from Astoria to LA. I've loved every minute of it!

It wasn't until I settled into a job that nurtured my growth - not only personally, but professionally, that I decided to go back to school. I never did do great in high school, in fact, I hated it. So, I was reluctant to take a shot at college. The last thing I wanted to do was end up overworked, stressed and in debt.

This experience of going back to school after so many years has been amazing. Although, I've had a few humbling moments that made me take a step back and question, "Am I able to do this?" and "Is this worth the late nights and long weekends studying?". The answer is, "YES"!

I'm taking this Marketing course (not just because it is required) because marketing skills are highly valued when searching out career opportunities. I don't want to limit myself to learning just about business and HR. I am seeking to develop a comprehensive skill set for professional success.

I look forward to learning and growing with all of you throughout this journey we call, BA223: Principles of Marketing.
